Prompt: A person has the ability to make other
people very ill.
Tippie is a half-siren with the ability through touch and voice to calm others. I love that she's always in the background ready to give Sparsh and the other LSP agents advice when needed. In this short, she'll have to step out of her comfort zone.
Part I:
“Calm down or I will calm you down.” The words
seemed harsh coming from her lips, but Tippie’s husband, Sparsh, knew the only
time she worried was when he worried. And she didn’t like to worry.
He reached across the folded down for her hand and
pulled it to his lips, kissing her knuckles. “I don’t know how to classify this
man. He’s not cursed but he doesn’t register as a paranormal entity by our
seers.”
“You’re afraid he’s an experiment by the
government?” she asked.
“All the signs lead me to believe this.”
Why couldn’t governments leave people be? “And you
need me to go?”
“It only happens when he’s confused and upset, which
is constant since his capture. No one but our vampire operatives can get close
enough to sedate him. Then he’s sedated and we don’t get a chance to
interrogate him. We need an in between.” He held her with his steady gaze. “We
need answers.”
She pulled her hand from his and cupped his cheek,
rubbing her thumb over the rough growth of stubble. “We’re supposed to be
retiring remember? Leaving this to the younger generation.”
“If our greatest fear has come true, then it’s going
to take every generation we have to stop it.”
Tippie settled into the leather seats of the SUV and
watched through the window as the trees flickered by. It used to be that their
greatest fear was the weaponization of paranormals by the government. Now the
fear was that the governments had found a way to genetically make their own
weapons to be used against paranormals.
The Lost Soul ParaAgency and other similar agencies
went to great lengths and expense to keep paranormals a secret from the human
world. Lately, it seemed a losing battle.
Stay tuned for Part II next week!
I love this Kizzie!
